Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins called this AM. He's always very honest and doesn't censor himself in interviews, which he admidts, can sometimes get him into trouble. But, the Pumpkins will be coming to 1st Bank Center on October 16 - the first set, he'll play OCEANIA (their new album) in it's entirety. The 2nd set will be a mix of greatest hits and deeper album cuts.
Billy and I talked about the making of Oceania, the state of music (specifically Alternative music) today, about his calling out bands from the 90s who reform to simply play their greatest hits (he calls out Chris Cornell and Soundgarden specifically), about bands who have transcended that label (Radiohead), and about the state of radio in the year 2012.
