I'll be taking part in one of those "fund-raising runs" on Sunday, September 25th.  It's to benefit Art From Ashes, a group that provides transformational creative programs for local youth who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered.  The run is itself very short - only three city blocks - but there's a twist.

It has to be run in heels.

I've never so much as worn heels in my life.  But I've decided this is a worthy cause, and I'm willing to give it a go.

Not surprisingly, most participants choose to dress up. Looking at the photos from last year, I saw a lot of ballernias and whatnot.  But I decided to go the other way.  I'll be making the run wearing a complete Colorado Mammoth indoor lacrosse uniform...and heels.  I already have the jersey and shorts, and Mammoth GM Steve Govett has generously offered to lend me a stick and helmet to complete the ensemble.

So like this, but with a lacrosse stick.  And heels.

If you'd like to donate to the cause, please hit me up on Facebook (Alf Ktcl) - I've got all the details there.  And feel free to come watch me stumble around (and hopefully not fall - I have to return the stick) on Sunday, September 25th at 11am, in front of Steubben's on 17th Street in Denver.
